Well, it’s been some time since I have written one of these and I know I have a lot of new followers, so I’ll explain what is happening right now 😄

“S” over at crimsonposy recently nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Although I appreciate the spirit of the blogging awards, answering questions and nominating others isn’t really my style; instead, I like to write a letter to my readers. I usually provide insight or background stories on one of my recent works, however because we haven’t spoken like this in a while and I have something to catch you up on. Let’s chat… about books and pens.

I’m self-publishing a poetry book!

Above you’ll see the current draft of the book cover. So yes, I’m self-publishing through Amazon and having a blast doing it! I will have 75 of my own poems and 11 from poets I have collaborated with. I would not have taken this step if it wasn’t for the encouragement and support of these poets: VB & Tom, Chuck, Ben, Navin as well as Kritika and Jared. At this stage I don’t have a set release date because of my perfectionist tendencies, however I’m hoping for late August. I’ll keep you in the loop with that one and move onto discussing pens… glorious pens.

I recently wrote a poem called Your Pen is My Desire. If you haven’t read it, it’s layered with all sorts of innuendo and desire. A big thank you to all who had a laugh with me about how naughty it was 😂 I thought I would share about the source of inspiration for this poem and yes, I know half of you just got incredibly nervous while the rest of you got excited and started reading faster. My inspiration… another poet who writes brilliantly. I was reading some of their work and started lusting over their…. pen (talent) and that is where the idea originated. My wild imagination took over and it went downhill or uphill (depending on who you are talking to), from there. Creativity is just so much fun, it can take you anywhere. So you have been warned… if you write brilliantly, I will undoubtedly lust over your pen 😏

Well, my dear S, I hope you enjoyed my update and tiny behind the scenes of YPMD. I really feel honoured that you would think of me to nominate for the award. To answer one of your questions “do you like spiders?” I have grown up around all sorts of spiders so they don’t scare me, in fact I’m more likely to name them Alfred and give them tragic family history. However… if a big poisonous one was crawling on me, you’d definitely hear me scream. For the rest of my readers, if you have gotten this far down the letter you know what’s coming… a secret treat to enjoy. And what it is today? An audio extract from Your Pen is My Desire that makes me want to blush… it’s not the whole piece, but as usual don’t tell the others 😉

    1. Haha, it’s a bit full on (the spoken word), so I didn’t post it…. Just sharing it with the ‘faithful’ 😁 Thanks you for your encouragement Navin. Our conversation was pivotal in me deciding to move ahead with the idea 💜
