bring peace into my days 
These silent hours 
rejuvenate my soul

The light from the window 
the feel of the blanket 
a flicker of candlelight 
hot tea in a mug

These small comforts 
engage my mind 
allowing me to dream 
of higher things

A framed view 
the feel of a book 
the trees dancing outside 
warm winter socks on foot

These small comforts 
are not trivial 
They provide a soft place 
in an uncomfortable world
