These long-distance thoughts
keep me up at night –
He says, “there are many ways to be touched”
and we do our best
using soft descriptive words to imitate a caress
but the distance is still there
It’s only human nature
to crave more than his warm soul –
I crave the heat of his skin
There seems to be no end in sight
closed airports keep this distance in place
and my phone on charge
We make do
making love through our devices
the artificial light accompanying our sighs
But it is still not enough –
I keep hoping this distance
won’t continue for much longer
I know our international borders won’t be opening for some time yet. My heart goes out to any lovers being kept apart 💜
Such a poignant poem, and so relevant for these troubled times…
