I watched the sun slip behind the mountains,
Ending its day with a fiery display.

I wished that you were with me
Holding my hands in yours,
Heating them with your breath
Sending me confident smiles and corner-eyed looks.

I wished you were with me
Wrapping a blanket around us
And pulling me close to your side
Warming me with your body and words.

I wished you were with me
In the twilight hours
When everything seems possible
Where dreams are given heartbeats and come to life.

I watched the first stars come out
Singing their evening song in light
And I wished
For you.
