Decay

I do not wish to write of decay
or point out the injustices across the earth
It is not my desire to leave you depressed
and introspective
inspecting society’s mould
and your neighbour’s blackened soul

I do not wish to call you to revolution
or rouse any righteous action
You do not need me to educate
or awaken you from slumber
It’s the soothing of your mind you seek –
you collapse into me for peace

I will not describe the darkness you see
the state of the world in decay
You come here to escape
and take you far away

I will not laden your thoughts
with humanities melee
Come –
laugh and kiss and dance
beneath the Milky Way

My computer is getting old, and unfortunately, when I use the recording program the fan goes crazy. Hence, you won’t see me promoting many poetry readings until I can purchase a new laptop. I did record this one, but the sound is terrible with constant buzzing. As you’ve made it all the way down to the end of this post, I’ll allow you to listen (because I know you’re a friend indeed).
