A 9th Letter from Secrets

Hey you, let me start by saying that this letter is thanks to Navaparna from The Passionate Learner. She has nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award. Answering the award questions and nominating other people aren’t things I feel comfortable doing, but I want to honour Navaparna and the sentiment behind the award. Therefore, I wrote this short letter for my followers/readers instead.

I’m finishing up working on two Irregular Odes and although I would love to share the behind the scenes, I’m not ready to release them just yet. Any Ode writers out there? πŸ˜…πŸ˜† With no Odes to talk about, let me share some behind the scene insight from my recent poem Astray.

Astray was written on a day when I was in a funk. You can see my own emotions leak into the last two lines of the second stanza… a longing to forget pain. I love that about poetry don’t you? Writing is a place to help processes feelings, create another world, dream up crazy things; it’s helped me more times than I can count. This time, it was an escape from reality. I wanted to write a romantic moment which would be so full of bliss that the protagonist couldn’t think of anything else. Given all that has happened (and continues to happen) in this crazy year, I like to create comforting places for readers to retreat to, even if it’s only for a minute or two.

I originally didn’t have audio, but one of my lovely WP friends mentioned something about my recordings and I realised I hadn’t done one in a while. So, I added it after my chat with her. πŸ’œ

I’ll keep this short for today. Stay safe out there and keep creating while holding hope close to your heart. Thanks again to Navaparna for thinking of me, I really am humbled.
