I fear I am no longer fearless
I have abandoned my reckless abandonment
to embrace
things that feel safe
I put the brakes on exploration
for fear of getting a flat tyre
or getting lost on a dirt road
My past mistakes have me chained
to this conservative existence
but…
I know she’s still there somewhere–
that wild young fox
eager for the next adventure

I have been publishing poetry here since April 2020, and it’s certainly had its creative ups and downs. At times, I’ve been fearless, at others, fearful. I was reminded recently of an older poem I wrote called ‘Bring out the foxes’. Apparently, it’s only available in my book, so I’ve put a photo of it below (because I like you). Looking back on what I’ve written, I hope I never cage my creativity.

Lovely verse and sentiment Bree. Sadly, I can relate all to well, having become very cautious and timid in my 60s.

Powerfully evoked! Another poem to show how you can write with so many dimensions. Well-voiced, too.
