O, my Weeping Tree
I know why you cry
for I too know what it’s like
to live in the harshness of this world
You survive in the barren places
perfectly adapted to thriving there –
yet, your tears still fall
O, Silver Princess
I look at you and feel comforted
knowing you understand my journey
In our youth
we both wore our hearts for all to see
but hot summers soon curved our spirits
into what they are today –
we are shapes transformed
O, my Weeping Silver Princess
I see the strength in you
Despite your tears
you display bursts of joy
in your tulle pink flowers
trimming the edges with golden lights
In the depths of winter
when most are sleeping
you rise and express your majesty
Through all your struggles
your beauty is unparalleled
So, weep your tears and I will weep mine –
together we’ll find our strength
and remember the ways we shine
Eucalyptus Caesia, also known as the Silver Princess is an Australian eucalyptus which is classified as a weeping tree due to the way it grows.
I wrote this poem back in 2020. I’ve dusted it off, done a little re-write and decided to take it out of the poetry vault.

What an interesting blossom!

Nice. I like how the tears come together at the end. It’s better to be together than alone.
