100 word story
You had a book to drop off. I answered the door wearing an oversized t-shirt and messy hair. Your smiled carried amusement. I asked you why.
Your eyes shone as you replied, “Never mind.”
For a moment there was tension in the air as we regarded each other.
“Alright then.” You said as you handed over the book.
“Alright then.” I replied, hugging the pages to my chest.
You said a hurried goodbye and I watched you walk into the night. So many things unsaid. So many actions not taken. I sigh. I wait. Stuck in the agonising friendship zone.
