Why did you hold the match of desire so close?
You ignited my curiosity until it flickered your name
United, we blazed intensely
roaring passion
voracious flame
We consumed each other with trembling
‘til neither was in control
We torched our lives for desire
because we couldn’t say the word
‘no’
Now, I watch both of us smoulder
ashes waiting to reignite, burn again
My fingers long to stoke the fuel
and watch the fire rage
We must not dance amongst the embers
put away your matches to be safe
There’s too much heat between us
keep our distance, don’t embrace
Don’t come closer
Oh, please stay away
even as I yearn to light the match
and set us both ablaze
I adore creativity. This poem was originally inspired by the song: Burn For You by John Farnham, but my muse took it somewhere else entirely.
Like a firestorm, out of control …

Passion can often be ephemeral, but when it blazes, it really does. You’ve captured that so well here Bree.

Oh this…I feel your words. Let it burn voraciously for it is meant to. 😉 Love the creativity and fire.
