I know when she’s near, your mind is a blur,
She holds the one key to your heart’s desires.
But knowing this truth will still not deter,
For you, my long aching soul never tires.
Stop Babe! Oh don’t give your kind heart away!
Know I’d be your sweet love in one second.
From your masculine side I’d never stray,
Even if a man with pure blood beckoned.
The tragedy is you just call me ‘friend’.
It’s not my fair heart that sets yours ablaze.
I’m not sure how long I can play pretend,
Life without you drifts in a cold dark haze.
But if you change your mind, please make it clear.
Just tell me “Yes” and I’ll love without fear.
This has been a labour of creative love and I may never do it again for the amount of time and energy it took 😅. I am delighted (and slightly petrified) to share it with you. 💜
A Shakespearean Sonnet has 14 lines, 10 syllables each line and is written in iambic pentameter. It is divided into three quatrains and finishes with a couplet. The rhyme scheme is: abab cdcd efef gg. Each quatrain and the couplet has a specific role to play in building the narrative. Please note: This Sonnet has 140 syllables based off Australian standards.
And even with a the labour, ST. You created something beautiful. Amazing job ❤️ I truly loved it. The hard work shows 😊🤗

Good for you! 👏👏👏I don’t think I would be a very good guide considering this is my first (and probably last one)😅. I would recommend searching ‘Shakespearian Sonnets’ to start. Seriously, good luck!

This piece sounds beautiful ST. The words were so in rhythm. And the fact that you worked with so many constraints only adds to the beauty of what you have written. Well done, keep it up 🙌
